The Queer as Folk Thank You Project has raised, so far, $205.79!

Last Updated: December 15, 2004

Update:
December 13, 2004: Only 2 more days to submit! Thank you to everyone who has donated or written a thank you or both! I've compiled a list of the people who have contributed to the project. Please check for your name and make sure your submission was received. (If you do not want your name displayed on the Internet, please let me know your name on the list and I will remove it.) 2 days can make a difference! Keep spreading the word!
December 8, 2004: Thank you to everyone! We're in the home stretch now and every submission counts! We've had a couple of fan art submissions that are very much appreciated. Also, PayPal donations will remain open but the CafePress shop will now be closed (CafePress takes 30 before they pay out and to get the money in time to be put together for the donation it, unfortunately, has to end). But I'm overwhelmed by the size of the donations! Thank you!
November 22, 2004: The donation goal has been met and surpassed! Thank you to everyone! But the Thank You Notes still need some work! Submit your letters, poems, art work, etc.!
November 20, 2004: We've nearly done it! The donation count is at $98.55! Thank you SO much to everyone who donated! Unfortunately, the Thank You notes aren't coming as well. Please take a moment to write a note -- be in a simple "Thanks!" or a detailed story of how the show has touched your life -- for the cast and crew. Try to encourage one friend to write something, too.

Rumor -- and I stress rumor -- has it that the season currently underway will be the fifth and, sadly, final season of Queer As Folk. For five years, these characters have entered our homes weekly. They've entertained us, made us cry, and made us smile. Now it's our turn, as fans, to give back. Why? To show how much it's more than a simple television show, it's something we look forward to all week.

To demonstrate our thank you to the cast and crew of Queer As Folk, Liberty Ave is organizing the Queer as Folk Cast & Crew Thank You Project. Here's how it works, there are two parts.

Goal:
$100

Current:
$205.79
$0
Part 1: A Donation for Charity
A CafePress shop has been set up with products with designs inspired by the show. Approximately $2 to $3 profit is made on each product sold. For the next three months, the shop will be open and all profits made from the shop will be used to make a donation to the Human Rights Campaign on behalf of the Cast and Crew of QAF as a thank you from their fans. The HRC is a well established and well deserving charity that works for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equal rights. The goal for this part is $100.

NEW! Don't want to buy anything? Donate via PayPal!
Part 2: A Thank You Book
The second part of the project is a memory book full of fan work: art, poems, heartfelt letters and notes, et cetera. These will be collected and assembled and sent to the set. Submissions can be emailed to qafthankyou@mskiteonline.com

Why so soon? The goal is to, hopefully, have the project be delivered to the set while the show is still filming.

We've bought the DVDs, the calendars, the books and the other merchandise. Now it's our turn to say "thank you." It's the thought that counts!
Deadline
Please make sure to make your shop purchases and send your submission by December 15, 2004. After this date, all submissions will be organized and a letter, which will include the names of everyone who participated, will be sent off to Showtime (we have an address for the set that is going to be used; however, if you can help arrange anything, please email!).
Spread the Word
This project is open to all QAF fans as a sign of unity throughout the community. Please pass the word on!
